Museum of Tango declared of cultural interest by the City Legislature .

October 28, 2008

Sweet and brief. That’s how the ceremony was. The Legislature is one of many French neoclassic public buildings. Its ninety-five meter high clock tower is massive.

The ceremony, attended by the faculty of the Academy of Tango and their guests, is held at Salon Dorado, a space decorated sober grays and rich gold colors. Six chandeliers along the main central hall and ten smaller ones along two side galleries are testimonies to Argentina’s former economic splendor.

As founder of the Museum, poet Horacio Ferrer receives a certificate of honor. He speaks about the creation of the National Academy of Tango in 1990 and the creation of the Museum of Tango in 2003. He says that unlike the Cleveland “Museum of Rock” which was built with money, The Museum of Tango was created with limited financial resources.

Coffee time followed with ample opportunity for conversation among guests.
