In Strangers’ Arms is a beautiful book that captures the essence of tango in Buenos Aires. While written primarily as a personal narrative, it is richly supported by the author’s research, both from archives and ethnographic. If you have danced in Buenos Aires, it will transport you back to the milongas. It also includes excellent discussions of the music and lyrics of tango.
