Tango in the movies

June 16, 2014

Gabriel Soria, vicepresident of the National Academy of Tango presents a collection of scenes from old Argentine films.

The editing was mostly centered around musicians and singers – not dancers.

We watched Gardel (1930) in “Rosas de Otoño,” a young Virginia Luque singing “Martirio,” a seasoned Libertad Lamarque singing “Uno,” several close ups of Alfredo De Angelis, Franccini and Pontier, D’Agostino and their respective orquestas tipicas.

I enjoyed watching a long segment featuring Angel Vargas singing.
