I keep meeting grandchildren of golden years’ artists.

September 7, 2015

Within a two-week span I met the grandchildren of Aníbal Troilo (musician), José María Contursi (poet), Homero Expósito (poet), and Osvaldo Fresedo (musician). I met them under different circumstances and on different dates.

Francisco Torné (Troilo) holds administrative responsibilities at the UNA (Universidad Nacional de las Artes).

Expósito’s grandson, an accomplished pianist, made a surprise appearance to accompany singer Martín Alvarado at an otherwise solo performance that had been schedule for the singer.

Alicia Contursi was an honored guest at an event held at the Academia Nacional del Tango. A graduate in philosophy, and studious of tango lyrics, she is rather involved in the tango community of provincia de Mendoza.

Oscar Fresedo is an author, composer and secretary of the Academia Nacional del Tango.

I must admit I felt a certain “something” about my indirect proximity to their grandparents. I thank Buenos Aires for continuing to surprising me in so many ways.
