A glowing fountain waits for me to be discovered as I walk along Rodriguez Peña. It is hidden by the unusual intersection where Juncal elbows.
The sight is so compelling that my camera cannot capture all its beauty. I say to myself: you will not take another tango photo! This is just a fountain … But, wait a minute …
What is written at the foot of the structure? “Eladia Blazquez (1931- 2005),” the name of one of our beloved tango singer-composer-lyricist.
And voila, along the inner circumference framing the fountain, Eladia’a verses are carved in the stone. “Atesoro lo humano cuando extiendo las manos a favor del encuentro.”
(I treasure the human extending my hands towards an encounter).
