Power point lecture: “ A dance that changes lives and heals.”
Where: Oregon Health and Sciences University, Waterfront Building, 3303 SW Bond Ave, Portland, Or.
The “addictive” nature of tango dancing benefits health and well being. When tango is compared to other forms of exercise, research studies show that participants prefer to sign up for tango. The fact that tango is a partnered dance and requires subtle communication that is gratifying in nature, seems to be at the core of this preference. Research with medically impaired populations versus control groups shows that those who dance tango follow up with exercise programs much longer than patients assigned to regular exercise.
